The "Air Date" in EMIS now supercedes the air date stencil on the car on Class One Railroads! Not doing this can cost you at least a single car test from a freight carrier, which has already happened to some members! Members cars have been stopped for not having the air date in Umler!

Air Brake Test reporting is now more complicated. New regulations require that "conspicuity" be reported as part of the ABT reporting, as is the replacement of AEI tags.

The change is already in place we had warned about. Previously, the "reporter" and "date" were all that was reported. Now, the new EMIS system requires that the "reporter", "performer", "date" and SPLC code be input to the system! Those small shops and independent technicians that don't have AAR shop codes will either have to get them, or join organizations that allow the members to use theirs, such as RPCA.

Umler is important to the Railroads, and for us for reasons described below. But the single biggest reason to use it is if all the proper information is included in Umler, the carriers have NO excuses for improper handling.

NOTE: We ARE uploading cars and locos to Umler. We currently have over 100 cars active in the system, and have loaded over 250 total.

Please DO NOT just stencil your car with RPCX! Cars must be uploaded to Umler and the owner notified by the RPCNB before you can stencil your cars! Please review the process and requirements in this document and the associated links.

This is especially true if the car is currently carrying legitimate PPCX or other reporting marks, and it has AEI Tags!

Improper application of the reporting mark could cause RPCA to incur some very stiff fines for improper use of the reporting marks, that will be passed on to the car owner.

Improper use of the RPCNB assigned RPCX reporting mark will be vigorously prosecuted!

The forms and the car data information should be sent to:

The name may be 'passenger car', but

the RPCA accepts and the RPCNB does LOCOS!

This page is for members who wish to register their cars or locos under the RPCA subsidiary assigned reporting mark for movement over the General Railway System of North America!

If you are new to Umler, please read all the FAQS and directions before your start.

The data forms links and electronic payment forms are found at the side of this page.

WARNING!

The RPCA member benefit for Umler registration is only good as long as you are a RPCA member, and the membership year is from January 1 to Decemeber 31.

RPCNB registration in Umler is a subscription, it is not a one time fee! This was done to reduce the large costs associated with obtaining and maintaining the process to something more manageable for our members.

So your car's or loco's continued registration in Umler is in jeopardy if you don't renew your RPCNB annual subscription and/or you don't renew your RPCA membership.
