GLR is providing UMLER registration, and 'inspections' data (air dates and loco periodicals) upload services for cars and locos!

We have inserted into UMLER over 200 freight cars and locos for commercial freight and passenger operations and over 250 passenger cars and locos as a Member Benefit to Railroad Passenger Car Alliance members. We can provide this service for you also, as well as fleet management services.

We can also upload data on containers ('U' reporting mark last letter) and trailers/chassis ('Z' reporting mark last letter).

Air Brake Test Cards and New Consolidated Stencils are now available!

Rolling Stock UPLOADS to the UMLER File

It is now a requirement that all rolling stock, to include passenger cars and locomotives, be in the UMLER File prior to movement on all Class One common carriers, and many regional and short line RR's.

The new FRA regulation on "Reflectorization" has an affect on the Umler loading, and is an individual entry in the "new Umler" coming out next year.

GLR services include uploading your commercial passenger cars, locos and freight or MoW fleet equipment using your reporting marks, or if you are purchasing cars, we can provide a list of services for you to choose from, from just uploading your information, and/or do the inspection, gather the equipment information and then upload the data to UMLER, to complete fleet management services.

If you don't have the computer assets, trained staff or time to deal with this very important process, let GLR take care of the details for you.

If you have any really "unique" rolling stock, we'd like to hear about it! The RPCNB, represented by GLR staff, is on the Umler re-write committee at Railinc. We are looking out for the interests of passenger cars and locos with their unique features, and the small operators with their unique staff and computational limitations.

Consolidated Air Brake Stencils and Test Cards

The stencil illustrated above (actual size is 5 3/4" tall x 19 1/4" long) is compliant with APTA Recommended Practice on stenciling. It is available with your specific car information, that you provide on the order form for the data fields, in pre-cut all weather easy to apply vinyl. Available in black, as shown in the example above, for application to light back grounds; and white for dark back grounds. Other basic colors are available upon request. Your order will include two stencils, one for each car side, shipped post paid.

The test card example shown above is a derivative of the APTA RP for documentation of air brake single car test, simplified to be more appropriate for the excursion or private car operator. They are printed on heavy card stock suitable for filling in at the car and placement in the electric locker for access by carrier inspectors. Don't forget, your air dates need to be uploaded to UMLER.

Similar card(s) are also available exactly matching the APTA RP for documentation of air brake single car test for the Transit Industry. They are also printed on heavy card stock suitable for filling in at the car and subsequent placement in the electric locker or in shop files for auditable documentation.

The interior configurations of all cars shown in the Market List for sale or long term lease can be modified to meet specific needs. Such configurations include:

GLR, as a member of the RPCA, has access to nearly 1500 passenger cars and 200 locomotives from the active membership. If the car(s) you need are not within the RPCA, it probably does not exist, but we'll keep looking!
